The Dead Sea that is...

Thoughts and impressions of day 5 of "Operation Nuke My Psoarisis". Sorry no photos as I forgot my USB cable for my K800i.

Bullets
  • Royal Jordanian has very fit air hostesses and a great new Airbus 321.
  • Security looks relaxed at the couple of military checkpoints on the road beetwen the Amman airport and the Dead sea resorts until you see the Humvee with the large calibre machine gun covering the checkpoint.
  • The hotel is the poshest I've ever stayed in and is huge with its own private beach. Room is huge also with a great shaded balcony in a garden complex.
  • The food is good for a buffet style operation and is unlimited. I have breakfast and lunch included. Alcohol is fairly expensive at London prices.
  • The haze from Dead Sea and the fact is it is a few hundred metres below sea level means you can safely sunbathe from 7-10AM and from 4-6PM.
  • The Dead Sea is so salty that you can float. If you have any cuts they sting like buggery.
  • Hotel has loads of Russians in it. Girls lok stunning, the blokes look like KGB heavies.
  • The group I'm with off another internet forum is a real mixed bunch of southern yuppies and middle aged northern miserable gits plus a couple of stray yanks. Get on well with most of them but there's a divide between noobs like myself and the Dead Sea old hands who have been going there for years. Also I don't seem to have as bad psoarisis as the most of them. Only one relatively fit girl in the whole bunch (who I'm going out for a drink with tonight!).
  • First time I've ever done fully nude sunbathing. They have two solariums, one for blokes and one for girlies.
  • Don't go here for the night life as there isn't any. Most people got to bed early as they are up early.

Two questions, if I may by Cloaked User (2.00 / 0) #1 Sun May 06, 2007 at 04:25:09 PM EST
Is it helping? And if it is, given that sunlight can help psoriasis and you're sunbathing, can you tell what is helping?

Not an entirely academic interest, I have a touch of psoriasis on my scalp (although I'm not fussed enough to go visit the Dead Sea for it - or even use T-gel regularly for that matter)

This is not a psychotic episode. It is a cleansing moment of clarity.

You can subathe for longer by jump the ladder (4.00 / 1) #2 Mon May 07, 2007 at 05:31:36 AM EST
Without suncream as result of the haze from the Dead Sea and the location being below sea level so you get more UVB exposure. The salts in the Dead Sea also help some people.

It is helping as a lot of patches are fading but I'm not sure I will be completely clear in two weeks which what some other people have done.

I've got patches on my elbow, legs and arse.
